Hi, I'm in Brisbane and over the past couple of months, couch runners have started appearing in and area of my Sweet Smother.(In the front yard around where the postie rides his bike over) There are also small couch leaves visible amongst the broad leaves of the Sweet Smother. I need to cut back and top dress in a couple of months time and when the growing season starts I am hoping that the Sweet Smother will power on and cover up any other species, but I don't want the couch to get a foothold. Am I best to just keep pulling out the runners as best i can until then, or is there something else I should be doing? Thanks.

Hi Kotton,
Keep doing what you are doing will help but what you need to do is paint the couch leaves with some straight glysophate, this will kill back to the roots. The only other way is to buy some Fusilade and spray this out, very expensive stuff, might be better to contact a weed spray company and get them to quote you on 2 applications. Here is a link to fusilade.

Thanks Temora, sorry for the long delay in replying. I took your advice and hand painted the couch and it's runners with some glysophate and it's worked well. Although I now have some unsightly dead patches in my lawn. I'm not too concerned about these at the moment, as I intend to top dress soon, as the lawn is only 10 months old and needs to be leveled.
Cheers.
Cheers.
