Just one type of liquid organic fertiliser

Using Organic Fertilisers In Lawn Care

Some of the liquid organic fertilisers that have been appearing over the last years have been a great addition to the garden and lawn owner. They allow us to quickly and easily apply a product packed with organic nutrients in a liquid form that is quickly taken in by plants and lawns through their leaves, and just as quickly absorbed into the soil. They really are a valuable addition to our lawn care.

They can be based on any number of key source products such as fish or seaweed, and are applied to the lawn either diluted into a watering can, or supplied in a bottle which attaches to the garden hose to be sprayed onto the lawn.

The products we are discussing are the organic products, not to be confused with a liquid weed and feed type product.

Are They Fertilisers

Technically speaking liquid organic fertilisers are NOT fertilisers, because their nutrients are not the same as in most standard lawn fertilisers, and are most often regarded as plant and lawn tonics. But don't let this interpretation fool you, these product do work, and simply provide a different food source for the plant or lawn.

They are filled with vitamins, and growth regulators such as essential cytokinins/auxins, trace elements, and carbohydrates.

Using Organic Fertilisers With Regular Lawn Fertilisers

These products are best incorporated into the overall fertilising and lawn care regime we use on our lawns throughout the year. Generally lawns are lightly fertilised every couple of months, so replacing a standard application of fertiliser a couple of times a year can be a good option. In many cases, Liquid Fertilisers can simply compliment the fertilising regime, without causing harm because they are not high in the same nutrients as standard fertilisers.

Replacing Lawn Fertilisers Altogether

While these products are a great natural boost to plants and lawns, they are often seriously low in necessary major nutrients such as Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium. So they should be viewed as a great complimentary product to a normal fertilising regime.

Summary of Organic Fertilisers

Generally speaking, these products are a great addition to lawns and gardens and will be a great friend.

However, all products on the market are different, made from different sources and containing different nutrient mixes and levels, and must be treated differently. Always read the product instructions on the label, especially in regard to use alongside other fertilisers, dosage rates, and possibly any types of plants or varieties of lawns to avoid, and feel confident in their inclusion in your lawn care regime.
