Burr Medic is another of the trifolate type lawn weeds, with serrated green leaves, it has long reddish creeping stems, and small groups of pea sized yellow flowers. It produces prickly burrs, which begin as small green circular like pods, which later dry out, becoming brown in colour. Burr Medic can quickly bunch up and spread in garden beds and lawns. It's deep tap root encourages it's survival in conditions which may otherwise be hostile to lawns.
It reproduces by seed alone, so removing the weed before it sets out it's seeds and prickles is the best way to reduce the infestation for the following years.

Burr Medic is another of the trifolate type weeds, meaning it's leaves are grouped together in bunches of three. Other similar trifolates are Clover and Oxalis, for the anyone outside of the industry, these three can be easily confused for each other.
The continuing life cycle of Burr Medic can be controlled by regular mowing since it's seed heads and flowers in mature plants mostly exist within mowing height.
Hand pulling is an easy and effective treatment.
Both Selective and Non Selective Herbicides can be used to easily control Burr Medic.
